CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION - story page number twelve
These unusual items are the old and new OHC timing chain tensioners. The original black one at the top had sat in this engine for some 30 plus years, with little use. They are renowned for failing if the engine is not used, simply because they dry out from lack of oil lubrication. With the engine out of the frame it was a simple job to remove the rocker cover and replace the upgraded tensioner which Alan bought from the helpful men at Benelli-Bauer in Germany.
