JENAL's visual information and navigation controls are handled respectively by Navman and VDO. We chose Navman because few navigation equipment suppliers combine their equipment so well, for example; their large screen Datahelm can simultaneously display radar information, below hull depth, GPS and engine fuel consumption on the one screen. The Auto-Pilot seamlessly connects to the Hydrosta hydraulic steering enabling a cost-effective system to be easily installed and, more importantly, to operate.

VDO are synonymous with vehicle and marine instrumentation and, like excellent navigation equipment, reliable information can keep you from potential and life-threatening disasters. We needed the safest and in consequence, the best. Our bonus for choosing VDO was the fact that Volvo-Penta also use their instrumentation so connection to the engines was made easier. We chose VDO's Ocean Line range with brass (effect) bezels. These are white-faced instruments which are clear and easy to read and the brass bezels add to the period look and feel we required. |

Navman
navigation equipment has been our quality choice simply because it is easy
to use and integrates with our systems including the Hydrosta hydraulic
steering. We have Navman onboard GPS navigation equipment, auto-pilot, radar,
depth-sounding, fuel monitoring and VHF radios (2 are required to meet latest regulations).

These
are nice pieces to add that 'little-extra'. The
Inclinometer on the left is an old piece and best described as a boat
spirit-level because it tells you how far the barge is canted-over at any
one-time (in relationship to your inebriated self, that is!). The compass on the right is a new repro part to add to the wheelhouse ambiance. The attached box on its right side is an actual oil lamp to illuminate the compass face, it will be changed to 24v. |
