Extractor hoods are just that... bla-dee-bla-dee-bla! Well no there're not, as our investigations taught us. Two key issues became apparent, 1) was noise, we didn't want to experience cooking whilst sitting on Heathrow's runway and 2) was extraction values, the equipment having enough 'suck' for the given size of the room and the kitchen/lounge area is large. We chose NEFF because it met all these criteria and it matched the other NEFF kitchen appliances. The extraction will be directed to the side of JENAL's superstructure rather than directly upward and in-front of the wheelhouse. Warm greasy air blown on cold windows makes for poor visibility. |

Now here was a cleaver move on our part, choosing the extra wide NEFF induction hob. The induction process uses more energy than a normal electric ceramic hob but cooks far more quickly (even quicker than gas), consequently it is cheaper overall to operate. Jennie likes her cooking and realised that a wide hob gives greater room for larger pot/pans to sit comfortably side-by-side, with each other whilst central on their respective rings. The central oblong zone (ring?) is a regular warming area, for example; to maintain warm food when Alan is delayed (once again) after the "meal is ready!" call goes out! |

NEFF are synonymous for the high quality of their ovens and this U1524 model is a classic example. It is a double oven with a smaller top oven and the larger fan assisted one below. They are eye level mounted in the Chinese elm cabinetry so ease of use is compounded by the simple NEFF controls and features, for example; the controls are electronic with both set and actual oven temperatures being displayed, it has an automatic programmer and triple glazed glass doors. The shelves have the addition of NEFF's telescopic rails, these allow the heavily-laden oven trays to slide completely out of the oven, enabling the cooking process to be fully supervised. Like all our chosen NEFF products, this oven is a low energy user and offers the option of the smaller oven when minor cooking needs are all that is called for. |

![]() This is not the most exciting picture of the NEFF N7140 warming draw but its value of warming or defrosting delicate foods and warming plates etc is easier and preferable to heating an oven up for the purpose. It will flush mount directly below the double oven. |

The NEFF model S5409 dishwasher is of the fully integrated design, which means the facia will match the remainder of the ivory coloured elm kitchen cabinet doors. The controls are accessed at the top of the bottom-hinged drop-down door, as seen in the picture. It is feature rich with even a facility to change up to 19 languages, this should help Jennie's multi lingual desires. On a less linguistic note, the S5409 has touch controls, an automatic programme and temperature selection, time remaining indicator and various drying options. Again, it is a low energy NEFF machine, considering it has water heating and drying power consumption. This is a machine to be better used when cruising, making full use of the engines 'free' electrical power whilst on the move. |

The K9524 Fridge/Freezer like the dishwasher, is one of NEFF's integrated variety. Positioned as it is on the portside of JENAL, it would otherwise be on full display but the ability to add our ivory coloured elm wood panel to its facia, blends it with the rest of the kitchen cabinetry. This model is more fridge capacious than freezer because JENAL's crew will experience a more leisurely lifestyle than before and in consequence, regularly shop at local markets rather than stock a weeks shopping and eat from the freezer. The K9524 has an internal LED electronic display, SuperCool and SuperFreeze functions, an internal anti bacterial system and 2 humidity controlled salad draws. |
